Blending a lifetime of classical violin training with such disparate styles as Klezmer, rock, jazz, folk, metal and electronica, Damian Sol is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, engineer, producer and programmer. With a strong background in traditional and jazz theory and harmony, Damian is also an avid improviser on all his instruments (violin, guitar, bass, drums, synthesizer).

His short-term goals are to write and record as many songs as possible, submit them for placement in movies, TV and video games, and perform live with his brand-new eclectic rock project Radio Orangevale.

A Brief History of Rhyme

I began my rock career at age 3 1/2.

I had picked out a tiny violin at Jack's House of Music; my mother let me choose the instrument, and I guess she got what she was asking for. Soon, under her diligent tutelage, I was practicing my classical chops for 3-4 hours a day and began winning competitions and performing concertos with orchestras by age 8.

My classical career peaked at age 16 when, as the co-concertmaster of the Sac State University Orchestra orchestra and a performer stuck on Paganini's violin Concerto #1, I discovered Metallica's first official release, "Kill 'Em All."

This understandably worried my violin teacher, who had big plans for me to attend Juilliard and, apparently, didn't care whether I was miserable with classical music or not.

I needed to rock. The rest is history.

I began plugging my violin into an amplifier shortly thereafter, and also picked up guitars, basses and drums in my quest to rock. I have spent the last 12 years performing in various acts in Northern California, including diverse bands from psycho-bluegrass act Freight Train Riders of America Band to klezmer/rock/durf/prog/country band Las Pesadillas. I helped to found both bands, and although FTRA is now defunct, Las Pesadillas is busy releasing albums with national distribution and touring the West Coast.
