CC Martin has taken the UK music scene by storm, headlining at many of London’s top music venues, including 10 Room, 12 Bar, The Bedford, Bug Bar, The Gardening Club, Jewel, Molly Moggs, Ocean, Pangea, The Rhythm Factory, The Spitz, The Spot, Troubadour, The Troy Bar, Vibe Bar, Waterats, and West One Four. Her style has been described to be “an infectious blend of R’n’B Jazz” and “a sultry fusion of Soul and Folk”, her band creating “R’n’B grooves and tight vocal harmonies with a perfect pop sensibility.” Add a touch of soul, and you have a singer that spans generations.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE A SONG?
“Nothing is more inspiring than life itself, the ups and downs, relationships with friends, family, love interests. Every time I perform a song, I am transported back to a particular period in my life, not just events, but colours, textures, scents. Music is definitely sensory, nothing relaxes or excites the body like a slow or fast rhythm.”

Influenced by India Arie, Eva Cassidy, Stevie Wonder & Erykah Badu, CC wrote her first compositions at an early age. Then, at eighteen, she began her life of music in London. Surrounded by awesomely talented multi-instrumentalists and producers, working with the likes of Jony Rockstar (Amy Winehouse, Sugababes) and Livingstone Browne (Bill Withers), CC has set herself up for the long haul.

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR CAREER PROGRESSING?
“I don’t want to be one of these artists who forces out the umpteenth album, disappointing their fans, I have made a point of starting as I mean to go on, with strength and dignity. Right now, I love my songs; I love my band, and I LOVE performing. Events can unfold quickly or slowly from here. As long as I’m on the path to my goal, everyone and everything else will follow.

Her songs have been played on Radio London and reviewed on BBC Radio One, whilst publications such as NME & Music Week have given her column inches.

Some say her tone, some say her melodies, and many that her lyrical stories are what make them hungry for more. All we know is the strength of her performance is alluring, intimate, and most of all, fun!
