Born in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Plant City's Bishop Wayne has a polished, flexible voice with a slight Caribbean lilt. His phrasing is spot-on, and unlike most neo-soul singers, he generally refrains from overselling the dramas of love. His voice is a smooth instrument but never saccharine.

THE BIO OF BISHOP WAYNE

Alternative Rhythm & Blues artist Bishop Wayne was born in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida with his father at the age of nine. He currently resides in Tampa, Florida. Bishop's music is influenced from the type of music that he grew up listening to and according to him, the kind of music I like to hear - there are no limits or boundaries to it." He goes on to say, that while listening to my music, one forgets about his own tragedies as he realizes that they are a part of life, which everyone goes through."
Performing background vocals for his father's band sparked the beginning of his love of music and led him into writing and performing dancehall music. Bishop was privileged to give a live radio interview associated with a song that he had written to promote stopping the violence" as a result of a local tragedy in the Virgin Islands at that time. He performed in a fundraiser for a hurricane relief effort. From there, he went on to write and perform songs for several local acts. He was also selected to create and sing a jingle for the St. Petersburg baseball team, The Devil Rays, and privileged to perform for the monthly televised "Hot Wet Miami Beach Show," hosted by Axle of Exus.
Additionally, two of Bishop's songs made #1 on "The Top 40" list on New Artist Radio (NAR), an internet radio station based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, while simultaneously being played in various cities in the United States and relayed to Europe, Canada and Australia. As a result of the songs' #1 status, Bishop was invited by NAR to perform live at their annual awards show, where he walked away with the "New Artist R&B Artist of the Year" award.
Bishop performed at The PARC fundraiser to encourage youth to say no to drugs" and to promote self awareness.
Mid-year, 2005, Bishop entered a contest with the Recording Academy Florida Chapter and was named a semi-finalist in the Florida GRAMMY Showcase, placing in the top 35 of more than 230 entrants. On December 15, 2009 Universal Music Group / INgrooves / Deemo released Bishop's full length album, titled - "I'm Just Me" via a global digital distribution. In the March issue of The Urban Network Magazine Bishop Wayne was the featured Artist in the indie spot light. www.urbannetwork.com
