About Asylum Sound Laboratory

Asylum Sound Laboratory, LLC, was started in 2011 by good friends and long-time collaborators Wayde Powell and David Kennedy. They have worked in the past, either in the studio or on stage (or both), with such artists as Mark Knopfler, Usher, Eddie Vedder, Stevie Wonder, and the Backstreet Boys, to name only a few. After collaborating together on many live and studio projects, and after years of friendship, the two decided to create a production company that would allow themselves and other artists to create music without limitations -- with strong backgrounds in everything from classical to electronic, and everything in between, and working in a state-of-the-art studio with cutting edge software and computer systems, ASL can help with pre-production, create instrumental parts, arrange, orchestrate, mix, and master your music, as well as creating music for film and television, as well as instrumental beds and soundtracks for any application.

Wayde Powell, in addition to having worked as a studio and touring musician for over 20 years, and having been featured as both a member of the band and a soloist on the Grammy nominated album "The Other Side" by Honi Deaton and Dream, and having obtained a degree in Music concentrating on classical guitar, is a 4 time Georgia State Bluegrass guitar champion, 6 time Georgia State banjo champion, 5 time Georgia State Bluegrass resophonic guitar (dobro) champion, Tennessee State banjo champion, and Tennessee State Bluegrass fingerstyle guitar champion. Wayde is also an accomplished Jazz guitarist and pop guitarist, and has played in recordings and on stage in major venues with many different artists in many different genres.

David Kennedy obtained a degree in Classical Music Theory in 1998, and then became an attorney (go figure), although he has always continued to play music as a passionate hobby. David is an accomplished player of the banjo, dobro, guitar, steel guitar, pedal steel guitar, piano, and other instruments. In his other career, David speaks fluent Spanish, limits his legal practice to Immigration and Nationality Law, and he owns one of the most successful Immigration law firms in the Atlanta, Ga, area. He can be heard on the radio four times per week (Mon. and Weds. from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on 101.9 FM (La Que Buena); and Sat. from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, and Sun. from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on 102.3 FM (La Raza)) taking calls and answering immigration law oriented questions live on the air in Spanish.
