Singer/Songwriter, Nicky Alrica was born in England, raised in Jamaica, West Indies and moved to Poughkeepsie, NY to attend Vassar College at 18 years old. She now lives in the Bronx, where she is pursuing her singing career.

Her experience as an entertainer started to grow tremendously in her high school years. She was a dedicated member of her high school choir, singing solos on many occasions. She was also in the dance group and the drama club. Nicky never passed up an opportunity to be on stage, especially when it came to showcasing her singing talents. While living in Jamaica, Nicky sang in lineups including popular Jamaican artists such as Elephant Man, Red Rat and Junior Tucker.

In college, Nicky got the opportunity to be educated in her art, as well as discover her own style. She took two years of music theory and harmony. Nicky also took percussion lessons for four years with a focus on the drum set. She was a member of the Vassar College Women's Chorus for a year, sang

Nicky's involvement in these groups gave her experience in performing for large audiences in various types of venues.

Her debut CD, “This time Round” was released August 1st, 2006 and is already causing a stir. The ten track album of original tunes is a unique blend of soul and reggae with elements of jazz and hip hop and includes guest appearances by hip hop artist Shangrila. The CD showcases Nicky’s powerful vocals along with her powerful and emotional songwriting skills. Selections from the album have been played on radio stations and in clubs both throughout the country, and in other countries such as Germany, The United Kingdom and Italy. Tracks such as Ooh La La, Move and On the Go each demonstrates Nicky’s versatility as a high powered vocalist and high energy performer. Her lyrical genius is expressed through tracks such as Journey For Love, Between Us and Just One Time as she takes listeners in style through experiences we can all relate to.

Critics and fans agree that “This Time Round” is a magnificent debut for a rising star. Phil Robinson, the president of the NY Musicians Group, referred to Nicky as “an ambitious young woman who’s going to make it no matter what” and added that the songs on the album “are so melodic and the grooves are so well-produced that you actually believe it.” Nicky Alrica is most definitely ready to be seen and heard This Time Round!
