Alexen Biography
Alex Morales Laygo, also known as ALEXEN, is a Filipino-American international dance artist, singer, songwriter, producer, and composer, born under the sign of Libra, on September 27, 1970, in Okinawa, Japan to Filipino parents who migrated to Japan in the late 60s. He's raised both in Calamba City, Philippines and Okinawa, Japan. At the age of 18, Alexen and his parents migrated to the United States of America. Alexen has lived in Southern California for over 15 years, and currently resides in Los Angeles.
Alexen distinct style of music consists of electronic music arrangements, catchy phrases, psychedelic synthesizers and electrifying dance beats. Alexen is an integral part of all aspects of his music, from lyrical concept, composition, arrangement, mixing and remixing to final production. As an electro-pop artist, his work bears comparison with Erasure, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Robert Miles, Hex Hector, Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderon and other enduring electronica artists. Alexen embodies many influences into his music. Alexen delivers positive, motivating and inspiring human issues that we can all relate to and be inspired by. Alexen's enjoyable dance music will linger in your minds long after you've finished listening to his CD.
Alexen entered the Los Angeles music scene in 2006 with his debut single "Come On and Dance". His first live appearance was at Taxi's Road Rally in the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles in November 2006. He was premiered at the radio station, Studio 24 Radio Live and became one of their featured artists.
Alexen's upcoming debut album, "Heartbreak and Confusion", has been completed and will be released on May 2009. It's a compilation of electronica dance music about his life from the day his mother passed away; depression; heartbreak; faith; hope; and about the challenges of life. The lyrics are catchy, the beats are energetic and the composition is brilliant! Alexen is one of a kind, talented artist.
