KAMiiO

Toronto-area vocalist, composer, and performer, KAMiiO invites you to listen to her original electro-rock/synth-pop songs. The music demonstrates the diversity that this award-winning young vocalist is capable of, and highlights her writing skills.

Born in Toronto and raised in a suburb just north of the city, KAMiiO began studying music from an early age; classical piano at age 6, then adding classical voice at 10. She soon realized that classical wasn't for her. KAMiiO's heart and soul screamed rock.

KAMiiO 's strong, power vocals have been developed by training with some of Toronto's notable vocal coaches, including the acclaimed Jazz Performance Program for vocals at Humber College. KAMiiO continues to hone her vocal skills overseas; currently in Leeds, UK. She has given some award-winning vocal performances. Competitions she has participated in include the Brantford Idol Teen competition, in which she was the 2009 Grand Champion; she was a semi-finalist at the CNE Rising Star in 2009, and a finalist in 2010; She was a 2009 winner at the York Region Talent Search, resulting in her Celebration of the Arts bursary; and, the Norfolk Fair Champion title was also granted to her that year.

Early writing experimentation and collaboration resulted in success for a co-written song, Hazy, when she was just 16. Hazy is the acoustic-guitar driven power-ballad. "It feels like love. How did this get so hazy?" sings KAMiiO. It is one of two tunes by KAMiiO that found a television placement by CTV. Hazy also garnered KAMiiO a "Mady New Music Award" in the pop category last July, honour finalist in the 2012 Great American Song Contest and finalist the UK Songwriting Contest.

While continuing to write and explore different styles of rock, KAMiiO found her true passion in electro-rock/synth pop. Influenced by current beat makers as well as 80s bands like Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan, Saga and Human League, she emerged with her sound that is contemporary and driving. The current lineup of songs delivers heart pounding, soul-thumping energy that will keep you moving. Soon to be released in 2015 is a new FACTOR funded song. Stay tuned.

Amanda, love Rabbit Hole. Do I detect a little Shinedown - Second Chance? It has a great chorus. I'm listening to all your stuff at the moment. Sounds great! Good production on the tracks. Nice levels and catchy lyrics.
