The trio began performing as a group in early 2002. Sloan Hayes (Starbuck, Magic Cat, Brother Bait) played keyboards on the previous Abel & Rawls releases, Two Months (1997) and As We Wake From Our Sleep (2001). ARH's first relase was 2005's Flash On A Film. This was followed with the 2009 release of The End Of Rock And Roll As We Know It.

The music ranges from rock to country... from reggae to acoustic ballads. The focus is always on melody. Diverse instrumentation and vocals have become their trademark. The trio has shared the stage with Shawn Mullins, Michael Tolcher, Will Turpin, Orange Sky, Jan Smith and many others. In its live shows the trio plays about a dozen instruments and all three sing. The live shows frequently feature a friend (or two) sitting in on some songs. Their friends on recordings and live shows have ranged from current and past members of Kansas, Collective Soul, The JCP, Mother's Finest, Starfish & Coffee and Calling All-Stars to name a few.

Press Info

Comparison helps describe bands' sounds in written reviews, so I'll try my best to do ARH justice: Think Moody Blues, Leo Kottke, less distorted Neil Young, non-satiric Horse Flies, some Jon Lord finesse, the lighter side of Yes, a tinge of Springsteen, and lighter Pink Floyd from the Meddle album - mixed with slight classic country and slight, slight bluegrass. Many enthralling moments through radiant instrumentation.
