The youngest of four, the mother of four. The cook, the maid, the nanny, the wall painter... the singer, the writer, the piano player, the poet, the storm chaser...the daughter, the wife, the quiet and the definitely not so quiet. A perpetual builder of bridges..and not so bad at burning them either. From her first studio at the end of a runway in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia to Midge Ure's garden studio in London to Bryan Adams House in Vancouver to Ghana, Africa to record her latest single Carolyn relentlessly rows her own boat. Currently deep in the weeds mixing tracks previously recorded at Warehouse Studios with Greg Reely for CD release, writing for film and television, and recording new songs for a celtic'tinged, historically inspired CD hopefully to be released in the summer of 2005 .

BIO

Carolyn McLaughlin - Canadian Singer/Songwriter

"Head and Shoulders above all the rest..." - International Musician Magazine

The youngest of four, the mother of four. The cook, the maid, the nanny, the wall painter...... the singer, the writer, the piano player, the poet, the storm chaser...the daughter, the wife, the quiet and the definitely not so quiet. A perpetual builder of bridges....and not so bad at burning them either.

The Beginning of Music: Three years old in Montreal, lying in bed late at night listening to her mother play "Alley Cat" on the piano ...sitting on her brother's knee as he played the stride of Fats Waller and Jelly Roll Morton, left hand flying, feet thumping........and listening to her father sing....anything. Later, an absolute love of Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton would drive her relentlessly to write her own material.

The Beginning of her Own Music: The end of a runway in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia recording four track demos of her songs in a small house while Prince Bandar and Prince Turki buzzed overhead in their F5 fighters....often caught on tape…always to annoy her. Needing more 'weather" she packs up her Yamaha grand piano, hand picked by her Mum in Hong Kong, and moves back to London with her husband.

Next: To Chiswick London, to Midge Ure's (Ultravox) back garden studio. With Midge on guitar and Russel Webb of the Armoury Show on bass her first recording in a professional studio if not easy was definitely interesting.....

Sometime Later: A move back to Canada and the release of a self-titled EP, written and produced by Carolyn, recorded at Seacoast Sound in Victoria, B.C. by Bob Benson and mixed by Greg Reely over at Bryan Adams house in West Vancouver, (Warehouse Studios). Selling copies from Latvia to Louisiana, these tracks bounced around the satellites charting top twenty in several different countries.

Then: Back to Warehouse Studios to record more tracks, this time in its new location in Gastown, Vancouver. Back with Engineer Greg Reely but with new drummer Randall Stoll (KD Lang among many), Miles Hill on bass, (Jann Arden) and Dan Ross on guitars.

Most Recently: A trip to Ghana, Africa to record a single in Black City Studios, Accra. Using the countries top session musicians in this state of the art studio, the track "I'm Still Here" becomes a magical blend of 'Highlife' and Hot AC.

Currently: Deep in the weeds mixing tracks previously recorded at Warehouse for CD release, writing for film and television, and recording new songs for a celtic'tinged, historically inspired CD hopefully to be released in the summer of 2005
