BENNY TETTEH-LARTEY
MUSIC BIOGRAPHY
-Played bass guitar & was vocalist in top Edinburgh band Makossa from 1987 to 1991. Toured Central Scotland. Recorded film track for short film “Salome” by Lucy Enfield (sister of entertainer Harry Enfield)
-Played bass guitar & backing vocals for Dave Robb & the Filmmakers from 1991 to 1992. Toured Berlin and Northern Germany. Played on album “Capture an Image”
-Fronted BTL as bass playing vocalist 1992 to 1994. Toured central Scotland.
-Became soloist in 1995, playing unusual 8 string acoustic guitar with own brand of music “Afro Scot Rock”
-Completed first album “Don’t be Sad” in 1998.
-Shared centre stage with acclaimed singer songwriter Nik Harper (son of Roy) at London’s Twelve Bar 1999
-1997 runner up and 1998 winner at BBC Scotland Tympanali singer songwriter competition with “Injustice” a painful story which describes events surrounding the untimely death of Benny’s Uncle Alex Tetteh-Lartey who was killed on a London street in August 1996.
-Gate crashed Scotland’s premier music event T in the Park 1997 and was asked back!
-Appeared on national TV “Star for a Night” 1999
-Completed second album “Unpolished” which is dedicated to the late Alex Tetteh-Lartey
-Played several live radio sessions from 1998 to date including BBC Radio Scotland, Forth FM and Fresh Air FM as part of ongoing promotion
-Re recorded “Head in the Sand” 2004
