Somewhere Under the Rainbow

Somewhere under the rainbow and from the sound of a 12 string guitar and baritoned voiced camp counselor singing 'House of the Rising Sun", Baird Brittingham was captivated and knocked out by the sound. From that moment on,12 year old Brittingham knew that in music lay his calling. Given an old beat up nameless guitar and a typical"how to play guitar" book, he locked himself in his room and taught himself to play. Some nearly 40 years and thousands of road and music miles later, Baird continues to bare his soul in his music and experience, channeled from somewhere only god knows.

Originally from Wilmington, DE, Baird's musical education by fire began in earnest in the clubs around the Philadelphia area and North East in the late '60's and early 70's with "The Sin City Band" who are still together to this day. He moved to Honolulu in the late 70's for a change of scene and recieved more formal musical training at the University of Hawaii, graduating with a BA in Music. The next 20 years found Baird forging ahead with 2 awards (Hawaii's version of a Grammy for his help producing Peter Moon's "Cane Fire" album, and winner of a local MTV song writing contest, with the song "As the NIght Falls") An accomplished guitarist , he can be found on numerous recording projects, and has recently picked up piano as well.He has been written up in National Performing Songwriter magazine and has released 3 solo projects- 1983's "As the NIght Falls", 1997's "Angel with a Bad Intention", and most recently "A Hard Way to Go" in 2006. He has toured as a member of Hawaii favorites "Cecelio and Kapono" back up band, and has opened concerts for Tina Turner, and Dionne Warwick, among others.

Baird now resides in Newport Beach, Ca and primarily records in his home studio, writes, produces, and gives private guitar lessons. He thanks you for taking the time to listen and hopes you enjoy his sound. Aloha ka kou!
