Azure Flame (born Catherine Provenza) spent the first seventeen years of her life in the somewhat desolate West Texas town of Big Spring. Her mother, a classical pianist, began giving her piano lessons at the age of seven. Her father, an Italian native, worked as a professional artist.

From age 9, Azure wrote several scripts, song books and children's fantasy musicals and operas and performed in school stage productions. At age twelve her focus shifted more toward music and she began writing simple hook-based songs. She expanded her horizons a bit at age 14, when she spent a year writing stand-up comedy as well as music and lyrics. Azure played clarinet in her junior high and high school bands and won numerous awards for solo performances at state contests.

After a few concerted attempts in junior high to organize a pop band, she later acquired two electric guitars, learned to play by instruction manuals and guide books only, and began "jamming" with bands in her teens, whose musical interests ranged from Go-Go's-style bubble gum pop to heavy metal. After a guest appearance at the Chelsea Street Pub, she was invited by the talent coordinator to be the lead singer for one of their top cover bands.

With a few years experience writing lyrics under her belt, Azure spent the next few years applying her musical education in every way possible to expand it by examining any musical instruction resource available, gradual equipment upgrades and experimenting with and refining her sound.

After having established her style, sound and image as a solo performer, Azure relocated to Dallas in 2000. By working in the hottest night clubs she was not only able to network connections in the local music scene and advertise to a vast majority of the public, she also had the means to get her music heard on a nightly basis. She was quickly in the company of fellow musicians, club owners, managers, promoters and producers, all of whom were an integral part in keeping her mission on the right track.

Azure's first year in Dallas was a successful promotional period for her. She acted as her own manager and publicist, compiling a press kit, designing magazine and internet ads, contacting local music critics and columnists, establishing contacts and connections and composing press releases. She has since traveled to places including New York, Phoenix and Boston to make her name known. Azure currently lives in Palm Beach, Florida, and produces her work in her home recording studio.
