Story Behind The Song
The term Reckless Lives came to me a few weeks ago and I thought it was a sad phrase that could be the basis for a heartache song. I don't write many songs of in this genre and I'm pleased with the way it turned out.

Lyrics
Verse 1
I thought that everything between us was OK, I had no doubt
But all the time you knew the things I've done, you caught me out
and I was wrong
Chorus 1
Now I would give you all the stars in exchange for all the bars where I've been drinking
I'd round up all the hills, swap them for the pills that I've been taking
I'd switch off the northern lights in place of all those lonely nights stretched out before me
How I regret my reckless life and wish that you were still my wife the way you used to be.
Verse 2
I played loose and free from the one so dear to me now I am lonely
It doesn't help me out to try and think about all the "if only's"
Cos I was wrong
Bridge
What reckless things our bodies do, when we know it in our heart
One night of passion in a motel room, can tear our lives apart apart
Chorus 2
Now I would give you all the stars in exchange for all the bars where I've been drinking
I wanna round up all the hills, swap them for the pills that I've been taking
I'd switch off the northern lights for all those lonely nights stretched out before me
How I regret my reckless life and wish that you were still my wife the way you used to be.
Outro
How I regret my reckless life and wish that you were still my wife the way you used to be.
Ooh Ooh, these reckless lives
