That Afternoon

Story Behind The Song

I got the jist of the main phrase from a reading of a weather report and related it to how that descrpition might fit a relationship, especially one that was in the first stages of heavy development. It's also about how a word or expression can change the entire mood and timbre of a song.

Song Description

This song came about as a chance encounter between two people in the throes of a heavy relationship and the range of emotions one can experience in a short period of time. It's about love, communication and perseverance and it takes place somewhere on the cliffs near a coastal town. Written in Sheridan, Oregon in 2001.

Dropped to an all-time low, the mercury sank slow
