Overture: Dancing Bears in A Minor

Story Behind The Song

The curtain opens, revealing a black stage. The Diva then appears in a pool of white light. As she begins to sing, the light on the stage slowly fades up to reveal a chorus of six brown bears, dressed in short skirts made of flowing chiffon and on their heads, purple and red fezzes with large tassels dangling. They dance in perfect synchronization with each other in a slow, hypnotic ballet, twirling and dipping to the haunting strains of the Diva. "I wish I could be myself," the Diva sings, "but only can I be that which you project upon me. So sad I am, with my woeful heart." The Diva, a closet lesbian with a penchant for Peach Schnapps and buxom blonde women, laments the relationship with her twin sister, the dark family secret. Sulamae was rendered a dunce after being kicked in the teeth by a mule at the tender age of seven. And while she couldn't put her shoes on the correct feet ever again, she did develop the uncanny ability to remember every lyric and melody to every song that passed through her ears. That and a singing voice so beautiful that when she sang, the notes reverberated forth such a magical sound that whosoever came in contact with the angelic vibration should become blessed beyond their wildest imaginings. It was this very gift, the sound of Sulamae, which had endowed the Diva her own gorgeous voice, a voice which could move grown men to tears, affect the loins of otherwise heterosexual women in such a way as to create a lustful longing sensation and cause the very hair on one's neck to shoot up out of its follicles with the force of a geyser. Even still, it was not the most beautiful voice in the world and she knew it. That voice belonged to Sulamae. And because of this, she would remain locked away in the cellar of the Diva's considerable dwellings forever...
