Story Behind The Song
I was auditioning some songs at Chappel studios and this was a half finished song at the time. I worked ter for a short while with another writer and forgot sbout this aong.
I later dug it out while searching for a song with commercial potential and managed to finish 'All in Vain and get it recorded at Morgan Studios with a known producer.
Song Description
I suppose it's reflecting on how hard it can be to stop being in love with someone, even though it's obvious that they don't care about you. There seems to be a reluctance to accept the obvious and move on. There is no consideration given to what would happen if she did come back.

Lyrics
I've been writing everyday
To ya since you went away
But you don't return the love I send
No matter how I try
I can't believe that it's goodbye
So come on home if you should need a friend.
I get up off the floor
And I keep coming back for more
I tell myself you'll want me in the end
And when all is said and done
And you've had your bit of fun
I'll still be here if you should need a friend.
But if it's all in vain
I'd do it just the same
And if I'm wasting my time
I can think of nothing better to do.
Yes if it's all in vain
I'd do it just the same
And if I'm wasting my time
I can think of nothing better to do.
Now it's been a year
And I'm still waiting here
Running out of time and not so sure
But just when I despair
And I'm trying not to care
I think I hear your knock upon the door.
But ifit's all in vain........
