Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song in response to the tragic shooting in Newtown,
Song Description
The story begins with a couple discussing the difficulties in their family. The chorus responds that only love can lead us out of this.
A second verse describes how an entire community struggles to grapple with the aftermath of a school shooting.
Again the chorus affirms that only love can pick us up from such a situation.
The bridge is wordless and sings "ohs" in a way reminiscent of mourning.

Lyrics
Red eyes and two broken hearts
The silence is the hardest part
Wouldn't know what to say even if we could speak
And with all the pain's been raining down
You'd think by now we would have drowned
But we're clinging to this family
I don't know what we're going to do
But you've got me and I've got you
We'll make it through this somehow (cause)
Where there is love
We don't walk alone
It shines like a lantern
And leads the way home
Where there is love
Together we stand
And when we should stumble
There's always a hand
To help lift us up (to)
Where there is love
The world is sending teddy bears
To the surviving children where
The unspeakable raised its wicked head
And as the school bell echoes down the hollow hall
The playground pines for a bouncing ball
And the churches burn candles for the dead
This tight-knit town we live in
Will never be the same again
But we'll make it through this somehow
Chorus
Interlude
Where there is love
We don't walk alone
It shines like a lantern
And leads the way home
Where there is love
Together we stand
And if you should stumble
Please reach for my hand
And I'll lift you up
And you'll lift me up
We will be lifted up
Where there is love
