We Won't Have To Pretend

Story Behind The Song

Based on personal experiences with women in my past and my inability to speak on my behalf towards what I felt about them.

Song Description

A simple story of a guy who likes this person but is very shy and not too sure of himseelf but realizes that he must make a sincere effort to let this know that he wants to have a relation with her. He also realizes that this person is also kind of shy and that it is up to him to make the initial step to get them togeather. The driving force behind his quest is that too many times in the past he has let his uncertainties about himself caused him to lose potential mate and thus the cause of his lonliness, So he decides that he will boldly taje the first step to have this woman for his own before they lose interest in each other.

Lyrics

We Won't Have To Pretend
Well here we go again
Pretending to be just good friends
We're doing that dance the half steppin
Holding back what we both feel within
I guess we're both playing it cool
Waiting for the other to make the first move
We're trying not to break the old rules
Like we did when we werehigh school
But we can't let this thing linger on
Cuz we both know the feeling will be gone
And we'll be singing that old sad song
About how did it all go so wrong
And we both will be home all alone
Watching the tv and the phone
Yeah we both will be home all alone
Watching the tv and the phone
(All alone, watching the phone)
Hey we need to go ahead and take this chance
We can't miss this opportunity for a grand romance
And I know Ive' let too many chances go by
Cuz Iv'e been so scared and yes I've been so shy
But I know I've' got to give it another try
I can't risk the chance of you saying goodbye
So I think I will make the first move
And I'll try hard to be real smooth
Cause I don't want to miss out being with you
Like I did others in highschool
And maybe you'll think about it too
Come on baby won't you be my boo
Yes that's what Im gonna do
And I hope you feel the same way too.
And then we won't have to pretend
We can free our hearts to the wind
Become real lovers and best friends
(repeat last verse and fade...)
