Story Behind The Song
This is my lyric #39, written October 19, 1972. This went right into Babylon's set list and we played it everywhere we went. I cut back the lyrics when I redid the song in 2008. I can never match the awesome vocal and harmony by Dave Shafer and Tom Webster, my friends and bandmates in Babylon.

Lyrics
I feel it's time to say something
Something I think you ought to know
All my life I've done nothing
And that's all I have to show
But it's time to change, yeah
Just can't go on this way
It's time to rearrange, yeah
And start anew today
So, I give you all fair warning
Things just won't be the same
When I get up in the morning
You'll only know me by my name
You can't live in dreams of tomorrow
Nor the ones of yesterday
Reality may be full of sorrow
But you just can't hide away
No more bringing me down
No more feeling sorry
No more shaking with worry
What is it that you're asking?
You say you want me to stay?
Remember that life is not lasting
Just got to live for today
So, thank you very kindly
But I'll be on my way
Now that I'm starting finally
Nothing's going to lead me astray
No more being lonely
No more hurting inside
No more hiding away my pride
That's all gone away
I'm starting life today
I'm starting life today
