Story Behind The Song

Melissa wrote this song in memory of her best friend Anish Singh who was lovingly called 'Dudu'. Melissa and Dudu were childhood friends who grew up as neighbours living in the same apartment building. They spent every evening together playing as kids do and as the years went by they discovered a common interest in music. Melissa used to play the keyboard (a very tiny one), by ear, at the time. Dudu was very interested in the guitar and all kinds of electronics. He even made an innovative drumkit by using an old metal drum, some cardboard boxes and metal plates. The thump of the drums came from an ordinary microphone concealed inside the kit! Together, they played and sang as a makeshift band for their other friends and families living in the same apartment building. Dudu was diagnosed with cancer in 1997 but inspite of his illness was as vibrant and happy as ever. Somewhere in 1999 Dudu's parents finally bought him a guitar and he started to learn. Unfortunately, as fate would have it, he passed away a few months later. He was just 13 years old. Following his death, his mother Irene decided to learn the guitar to keep his dream alive. Out of a shared desire to do the same, Melissa became Aunty Irene's student. Irene taught her as and when she learned something new. Melissa discovered a love for the instrument and as they say, the rest is history. Melissa's life has been so greatly impacted by the life and loss of her friend that this song comes straight from her heart. A deep rooted sadness at having lost him, a thank you, an assurance that he is safe and happy in a better place and a hope to one day see him again. Melissa hopes that this song will touch and bless the hearts of listeners who have lost a loved one and who understand these profound sentiments.

Song Description

Written in memory of my dear friend "Anish Singh (Dudu)" who passed away from cancer on June 28th 1999. Death is one of those hard realities which leaves behind a void that lasts a life time. However, faith in a loving and eternal God gives us the ability to carry on in the hope that we will one day meet again in this beautiful place called heaven. Every lost loved one, though not here now, continues to live...happy and free under the loving eyes of the Lord. Hope springs eternal... PS - This is an ordinary home production mixed on a pair of headphones.
