Song Description

Rain showers can't dampen the bliss of two new lovers, who head out for a stroll under a blue umbrella.

Story Behind the Song

This song was inspired by the romance of the songwriters, and a summer stroll in a Chicago rainstorm to see the Monet exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Broadjam Member Reviews

Strong chorus in this song that would evoke visual images from the listener. Creative and solid background vocal arrangements in the chorus, make this a very catchy song that would work well behind visuals in an advertisement.

    - Jonathan Weiss - Broadjam Pro Reviewer

There's a bounce to this song that leaves the listener with a happy feeling. The intro with the uplifting piano tells of good things to come and it doesn't disappoint. The lyrics are playful and the singer's cheerful delivery gives this momentum. I love the harmonies, and the hook "under a blue umbrella" really draws you in.

Lyrics

Blue Umbrella
by Tom and Mary Erangey, copyright 2011

Hey...hey you, jump onto my cloud
Me and you, our own Shangri La

Verse 1: I looked out my window
Saw the rain coming down
Your head on my pillow
I'm happy as a clown
You woke with a smile
And said let's go for a stroll...in the rain
You, jumped onto my cloud
Me, and you, our own Shangri La

Chorus: Under a blue umbrella
We shared a blue umbrella
Under a blue umbrella

And now we're walking and talking and hugging and kissing and running and laughing aloud
Joking and flirting and teasing and squeezing and touching the clouds

Verse 2: The rain was so gentle
And the sun shone through
The world blossomed green
It shimmered with dew
You held me so close
And my happiness grew
Hey, hey you, jump onto my cloud
Me, and you, our own Shangri La

Chorus: Under a blue umbrella
We shared a blue umbrella
Under a blue umbrella

And now we're walking and talking and hugging and kissing and running and laughing aloud
Joking and flirting and teasing and squeezing and touching the clouds
