Song Description

The song deals with the numb feeling of being lost between loving someone in your life and loving them enough to let go of them cause you know that you are wrong for each other. If also has a moment dealing with the frustration of wishing you could leave with them.

Story Behind the Song

This song was written just after a long term girlfriend left to move back to the city. She had moved up to a small town with me to get away from the rat race and after a year our relationship fell appart and we made the mutual decision for her to move back home. This song was my way of moving on and dealing with the emotions that rose from this.

Lyrics

Were you ever really here? Sometimes we feel so distant
Feels (like) I don't know your face and I've been lookin through you
Myself, I've changed, you're still the same
All the words that we have spoken
Couldn't change our differences, couldn't make me want you here

I said you're leaving here for you, but you're leaving here for me
You know we couldn't make it if we tried
And I know it's hard for do, but I need to set you free
And it's such a shame that we're gonna say goodbye

I guess you never really lose, what was never meant to be, I'm still
Lost in the middle
I guess you never really choose, what was always destiny, I'm still
Lost in the middle alone

The seasons change but we remain, shouldn't (have) let it get so far
It feels as though I'm falling, like I don't know myself
Can't think of any reason why I still want you hear
Cause I cannot live, cannot breathe
Feels as though you're killin me

I said you're leaving here for you, but you're leaving here for me
You know we couldn't make it if we tried
And I know it's hard to do, but I need to set you free
And it's such a shame that we're gonna say goodbye

I guess you' never really lose, what was never meant to be, I'm still
Lost in the middle
I guess you never really choose, what was always destiny, I'm still
Lost in the middle alone

If I ever confront my fear I would escape my life and walk out of here
I wouldn't give a thought to anything;
I would walk right out of here
I guess we've all but faded away to a bitter end, nothing more to say
If I could ever confront my fear I would give up and walk out of here

I guess you' never really lose, what was never meant to be, I'm still
Lost in the middle
I guess you never really choose, what was always destiny, I'm still
Lost in the middle and only you can see
I guess you never really choose, what was always destiny, I'm still
Lost in the middle, I'm still lost in the middle
