Hey Hey

Story Behind The Song

I saw a girl for quite sometime. Thought she was it and all that, only to find out that she was not; she had issues with the truth and fidelity. It took me years to get over her. And for years I never saw her. I sat and practiced how aloof, cool or disintrested I would be, should I bump into her. I considered exactly what I would say and how I would act. And then one day...it happened. As the line in the song goes...who'd have figured that She'd step right our of nowhere in the middle of my day And that I'd blow it. ...and I did. Seven years, man...down the drain. Oh well, I never got closure on it. I never spoke my mind or told her any of what I'd had bottled up in me, all those years; she had just left and that was it. I never got to speak my mind and here was my chance...and I blew it. I wrote this song some years later. This song acts as my closure on this issue.

Song Description

Have you ever been in love? I mean really in love. That type of love, that you just know "this is the one". Well, if you have and then you've had your heart and head handed to you, by said "love", then surely you know it's not easy to get over. Indeed, you might sit around and think about how cool and collected you might/will be, should you ever run into said "love".

Lyrics

Hey Hey

Hey hey, hey, how are you?
I don't know how many times that I've said that before
To myself in the mirror

And who'd have figured that
She'd step right our of nowhere in the middle of my day
And that I'd blow it

'Cause I must admit you've got me at a slight disadvantage
For me it was as though it was only yesterday
That you put me aside

And how could it be
That I could blow it so easily
Right here, right now in the middle of my beer

And when will ya learn
That gun metal grey eyes make ya turn
And image of yourself like a puppet on a string

'Cause I must admit you've got me at a slight disadvantage
For me it was as though it was only yesterday
That you put me aside

Cuz' now I'm busy with your epitaph
A little Frost a little Grapes of Wrath
None of its loving or revisionist
And you should see the cover
A forward by your mother
Written on gold leaf
Over a pint at the wheat sheaf

So, this is it
I should just be a hypocrite
Play deaf dumb and blind to the worst of my feelings

'Cause I must admit you've got me at a slight disadvantage
For me it was as though it was only yesterday
That you put me aside

Cuz' now I'm busy with your epitaph
A little Frost a little Grapes of Wrath
None of its loving or revisionist
And you should see the cover
A forward by your mother
Written on gold leaf
Over a pint at the wheat sheaf
And you should see the cover
A forward by your mother
Written on gold leaf
Over a pint at the wheat sheef
