Story Behind The Song
I saw a listing on craigslist for submissions for songs about the Statue of Liberty, and what she means. The cd was to be a compilation of songs, to be given to underpriviledged children to teach them about the Statue of Liberty and freedom. The project was cancelled.
Song Description
This song is about being able to dream, and make dreams come true in America. Teaching young children, what freedom is in America.

She Stands
Joey tugs at his mama's skirt, watching the tears fill her eyes.
What's wrong mommy he asks her, why are you starting to cry.
She takes him up in to her arms, and holds him tight.
Baby there's nothing wrong, everything's alright.
Joey asks his mama, what's her name, she's so alone in the night.
The statue with the pretty flame, is she what made you cry.
Baby she's the statue of liberty, these are tears of joy.
Now I can have a better life, for my little boy.
She stands for...
The freedom to believe.
The freedom to succeed.
The freedom of speech.
Oh the freedom to just be.
She stands for you and me.
She stands.....
Little Joey is starting to understand, why they're here today.
He takes his mom by the hand, as she wipes his tears away.
What's wrong she asks, looking down at his little face.
Nothing mommy, these are tears of joy, everything's ok.
Repeat chorus
Bridge
In this land of opportunity, we don't have to stand alone.
Believe in your dreams, and make them your own.
Never give up, never let go.
Reach for the stars, and live the unknown.
Repeat chorus
