One Voice

Story Behind The Song

As a Christian I am tired of people feeling helpless to change big things for the better. This was written to empower people to affect positive change...to see that they do impact the world around them but they must choose what effect they have.

Song Description

Somewhere between Rap and Jazz this song landed with a little R&B feel. Written from a Christian perspective, it is intended to encourage people to see the power for change they hold in their hands. Each person must chose how they change their world.

Lyrics

It wasn't long ago in history we know

The school day was changed by a woman on a mission

She won her case that we cannot erase

But we don't stop praying just because they say so

One voice took our prayer from school,

One voice made it against the rule

One voice said we're not allowed

To pray to the God on whom we founded our nation

One voice is all it takes for change, one voice can totally rearrange

One voice is what you got so use it or lose it ready or not

You can't have everything, do you hear me when I sing

But you don't have to wait for someone to dictate

You have worth and on this earth

That means you have a say in how things go today

One voice set the captives free; one voice saved a wretch like me

One voice cleanses all my sin; nobody cleans like Jesus my savior

One voice is all it takes for change, one voice can totally rearrange

One voice is what you got, so use it or lose it ready or not

You might be amazed, if we just keep our gaze

On the power who raised, Jesus from the grave

He was just one voice; He leaves you with a choice

If you're gonna' change the world

Then go out and make some noise!

The enemy is counting on you to stay quiet,

To think you're a droplet in the seas of the world,

The longer that we sit around stayin' silent

Like we buried our talent from the Lord,

How can He call us faithful servants?

If we don't stand up and face our giants

I don't mean to offend, please hear me when,

I say I answer to God, before I answer to men.

One voice took our prayer from school,

One voice made it against the rule

One voice said we're not allowed

To pray to the God on whom we founded our nation

One voice set the captives free; one voice saved a wretch like me

One voice cleanses all my sin; nobody cleans like Jesus my savior

One voice is all it takes for change, one voice can totally rearrange

One voice is what you got, so use it or lose it ready or not
