Shackleton

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song about Shacklton's failed attempt at reaching the South Pole to make a statement about how sometimes it is important not to lose sight of what is truly important in life while seeking one's goals. Shackleton refused to sacrifice his men on his expedition and showed the courage to fail.

Song Description

The song tries to give a sense of the sea. My first attempt at home recording - please don't judge the recording quality.

Lyrics

Shacketon

Hold the breeze
Turn for the Southern Hemisphere
Twenty seven men on the brink of death
On the edge of the world
Hold your course
Take the dogs ashore now
Driving through the driving snow
In the cold we cannot go

Chorus
Shackleton go home
Endurance will never be the same
Take your men back home
From this day the world will know your name
Shackleton go home
Shackleton go home

Too far to go
Further than any other man
Can try once more another day
Can face to walk away
Sense and fear fall
In some eyes close together
But not to men with homes and wives
And golden, precious lives

Repeat Chorus
