Description

Short Description of Song

The mournful anthem of an individual who finds themselves bitterly alone in love, and feels as if the only option is to continue on alone.

Long Description of Song

his song is about reaching a point in the world of love where you feel as if there is no other option but to continue life alone, without any romance. At the same time, however, the song holds a bit of hopefulness in that the person is still moving on with their life and 'Going Places' alone, but has also come to terms with the fact that when it comes down to it, they don't really need the company on their journey.

Story Behind the Song

As can be easily inferred, I wrote this song at a time in my life when I felt more or less alone. I came to a point where I had simply had enough of feeling sorry for myself and decided to confront the factors contributing to my sadness. In writing this song, I came to realize that independence from these issues is attainable, and therefore developed the attitude that I can and will 'go these places alone' but not because of necessity, but because it is my own personal choice. Moreover, I really think the song speaks for itself.

Lyrics

Oh, tell me do you believe
The things you say to me?
All these lies are in between
The Lines you're feeding me

You say you've gotta be somewhere
But you'd rather just be elsewhere
With somebody else
And I think to myself
Sorry I'm not better company
While you're turning your back on me

Chorus:
I'm going places and it's far to late for what we could have done
I never thought I'd ever say it but my baggage is packed for one
And my heart runs away if you let it so don't waste your time trying to get it
'Cause you know that loving ain't easy
And if you want me, don't need me 'cause I'm used to them leaving me
To go these places alone

What is it about today that makes me wanna stay
Away from all these faces and these places that I'm passing
You're way to good at asking for the world
And babe, I'm not that kind of girl
So this is the last time I'll see
You turning your back on me

-Chorus-

Bridge:

And today the sun ain't shining,
It's reminding me that the clouds they keep on hiding their silver lining.
And When it rains, it rains and it pours on me
Conveniently too late, too late to stay the same.

-Chorus-

And if you want me, don't need me
'Cause I'm used to them leaving
To go
These places alone
