Story Behind The Song
I had this melody and chord progression that I brought to my collaborator, Mimi Hills. The music evoked an image of an actual place. There's a county landmark off of Highway 92, on the way to Highway One in Half Moon Bay, CA called the House Of Doors. The walls are constructed entirely out of doors, making it a bit of a mystery where the actual entrance is. She thought this made a wonderful metaphor for a heart that is closed off and difficult to open up: "And that heart of yours/Like a House of Doors/till you point the way that I can get inside..."
Song Description
Someone is attracted to another person, but feels the other's heart is closed off. "The House of Doors has walls and floors/Nailed up tight so any entrance is denied." The singer is looking for the key to unlock that door to the heart.
