Song Description

About how, even though the homeless person may have missed chances and messed up opportunities--all that might be true--but at this moment, "I'm hungry and cold." And, he needs help.

Story Behind the Song

Seeing a man standing at the end of a freeway ramp with a sign saying "Hungry and Cold" got me thinking.

Broadjam Member Reviews

The song has a storyline, just like Country music should be. There is something said too just a vocal and Acoustic Guitar on a song. The Electric Guitar part was nicely done. It was a nice mellow song to listen to.

    - Nick Berry

love the voice. well done.. simply well done

    - Ronald Arduini
Lyrics

Standing with my sign
At the end of the ramp
The wind swirling
And the ground is damp.

Sitting in your car
You're looking straight ahead.
And I can see
The thoughts move in your head.

And, yeah, you're right.

CHORUS

So many things I could have been
All the things I should have done.
Yeah, I know my story's getting old
But, tonight
I'm hungry
And cold.

Working on the line
Until the sun went blue
Moving up the ranks
I was just like you

I sat in my car
And I looked straight ahead
Read all the signs
And drove off instead.

Was I right?

CHORUS

Walking on the road
With my life in a bag.
Memory swirling
Over things I had

Nothing in my life
Goin' straight ahead
All I love
Just drove off instead.

Was that right?
