POKUMAN

Story Behind The Song

I did Karaoke and discovered I could attract an audience. I liked John Candy and the movie Cool Running thus the Jamaican. I also had the best Taboggan in Northern Ontario the fastest in town. I love the way this song is only totally understood by the kids after listening closely. I thought of this song after accidently poking my wife Angel in the eye. It was dark and I went to stroke her hair. The next morning I laughed as there was no damage but the way she acted in the night really scared me. The relief at the lack of a black eye and the idea of a Jamaican doing this and saying "I didn't Pokey You" plus the question "was it a finger" made for even more relief. This event like others is documented in my Journals. I write every day. I have not missed a day in 14 years. Since Dec 29th 92. My life is the source of my songs.

Lyrics

Let me tell you a story my friend About how Karaoke started Pokumon
Started by a man in a Kilt and a Cowboy hat A Canadian Celtic Cowboy, ?What do you think about that?
Before Pokuman there was Karaoke you sang the Stars songs and you sang for free
You filled out a card with a song to sing none sang better than the ?Kilted Karaoke King?
. Chorus:
Pokuman oh Pokuman what?s all the fuss about Pokuman
?It was the Kilted Karaoke Man from the Pokeman Clan That started the game called Pokuman?

Verse 2
There was another game where he was the King He was the best at Tobogganing
When it got cold in his kilt he?d wear a sweater he did the night he got beat by the darn bob sledder
And wouldn?t you know he was a Jamaican man and behind him sat his Jamaican girlfriend
It was because of this girl now our story belongs to a singing battle for that Angel Celt and Raggae Songs.

Chorus:
Verse 3
Now this Angel loved them both equally couldn?t decide which one to wed you see
Well the World?s Karaoke Championships would help her decide, the best of these 'Two' a ring around her finger would slide.
Now in Japan it came down to three finalists, It?s hard to believe if you?re a 'realist'
It was the Jamaican, the Kilted Cowboy, and Japans Hero. Angel sat on the edge of her seat, in the Front Row?.

Chorus:
Verse 4
Now to the stage in front of the Press the whole world watched soon to decide the Best
All three had sung their final song a decision would be made, it should not take long?
But only one microphone was presented them and when they all grabbed for it, the slipping began
In a 'ball' to the stage, lots of rolling around I?ll tell you how Pokeman began when I continue this Song.

Chorus
Verse 5
Then out of the fracas came a Japanese Cry the Jamaican said ?You poked me in the eye?
He said ?I did not pokey you Mon, was that Scotsman over there Your Pokey Man?s the Scotsman and he wears no Under Wear?
Now to the stage, in a rage, Angel let it be known while she watched the action her love had grown
She Said, ?I?d Love to Pokey You! and I LOVE the POKEY MAN!?, C?Let?s start the Game for Children, I'm taking you Home Man?.

Chorus:
Verse 6
Now when the Canadian Celtic Cowboy rode away He left his Karaoke card on the stage that day
Some kid said "Hey that?s the Pokey man's card". The authorities took it, it was Scotland Yard.
To the Press went all the pictures that day and soon an investigation was under way.
Now the game that was created it does no harm, and about the finger in the picture, it looked more like an Arm!

Chorus
