Story Behind The Song
This song wasl oosely based on a friend of mine who lost his wife and 5 children in one car accident in which he was the only survivor in his car, hit broadside one night by a drunk driver. Pretty awful story, but the song is really about how someone copes with that kind of thing. it's about missing someone.
Song Description
This is an easy listening, sort of melancholy and reflective in feeling type of song.

Lyrics
Shine
Words and music by Baird Brittingham
Silver slice of moon shine out on a black and blue sea
Can't express this feeling but it seems somehow a comfort to me
If I hold on to the moment, to the thoughts that get stolen
And drift out in the wind right out of me
To the memories that are sacred, strip this boy naked and
Chorus: Shine on, shine a light down on me
Shine on, shine on
Funny how some memories don't seem to ever want to let go
I curse the fates and darkness cuz I can't seem to find my way home
On a night much like this one without a leg to stand on
I can still hear the sirens feel the pain
Tearing metal thunder, your soul left to wander and
Chorus: Shine on, shine a light down on me
Won't you shine on, shine on
Sometimes at night I wonder keeping time to the far off thunder
I think of all the choices I have made
Close my eyes to ease my pain, one more night they're all the same
Going through the motion killing time
And I know you're in a better place, free from this earthly pace
And one day I will find, you'll be there to ease my mind
I'll know it's time to
Chorus: Shine on, shine a light down on you
And I will shine on, shine on
Shine on, shine a light down on me
Shine on, shine on
Silver slice of moon riding down on a black and blue sea
Can't express this feeling but it seems somehow a comfort to me
If I hold on to the moment to the thoughts that get stolen
And are drifting in the wind right out of me
To the memories that are sacred, strip this boy naked to
Chorus: Shine on, shine a light down on me
Won't you shine on, shine on
Shine on, shine on
Shine on, shine on
Shine
