Story Behind The Song
I wrote the chorus in 1995 but it wasn't until 2005 when I woke up in the middle of the night and found myself humming a potential verse melody. I jumped up and recorded the melody on my digital piano. The next day I woked out the guitar chords and asked my wife to laundry-list what she'd like to experience on a dirty weekend (with me, hopfully!). I took the list and wrote lyric-poetry to some of those ideas then set them to the verse melody that afternoon. I picked a latin rhythm because it was consistent with the latin tone of the lyrics. It was the first latin-type song I'd ever written.
Song Description

Lyrics
?Lean to Me?
(Words and Music by Jeffrey Thomas Leiker ? Copyright 2005)
Would you like to take a journey far away from here?
Go beyond the silent desperation.
To a land where we can feel the passion and the sound
Of nothing but our joy to be alive.
(CHORUS):
We can lean upon a pillow
We can Lean upon the shore
We can lean against each other
?Till we can?t lean anymore
And I will bring us closer
We?ve ever been before
Lean to me, oh lean to me
?Cause love is what you mean to me.
Dancing closely, slowly on a starry night -
With a gentle breeze caressing us so softly.
With jasmine in the air, red roses on a white wall,
Just lean against me, I will take you there.
(CHORUS)
