Story Behind The Song
I was saved at 12 (in '88) but I did a lot of "backsliding" as a young adult. In 2000 a friend came into my life and shared the good news about Jesus with me again and encouraged me to go on with God. We started having bible studies at my house and though they prayed for me to quit drinking (a six pack or more a day) I really didn't expect anything to change. But one week later I chose Jesus and the bible study over my drinking, and the Lord completely delivered me from that day on and I went three years without a taste of alcohol! Praise the Lord! In that time I was energized by the Holy Spirit and felt like I was alive from the dead. And I am still walking with the Lord now - Alive forevermore! This song was the first (or second) "God song" that I had ever written. Though many songs and feelings have come since - there can only be one "very first time!"
Song Description
Summer Daze is my story of Jesus Christ's saving power in my life. The verses tell of my old way of life while the chorus exclaims that "I'm alive for the very first time". It's a "sing along song" with an acoustic backbone but seasoned with electric distortion. The song creshendos into an 80's style guitar solo and tapers down to a bass riffed verse and harmonized "oh, hosanna" (wich means "save now") bridge. All in all , it's a "Yahoo Jesus saved me!" song.
