The Gift

verse 1

While riding home from school one day, a stranger caught his eye
A tattered woman on the roadside holding up a cardboard sign
Through the door and up the stairs he ran into his room
Laid down and cried about the woman then figured out what he should do

Out the door and down the street, he clutched his jar of change
Soon he met the woman who put his heart in so much pain
But now he's running late for supper, his parents worried bad
When daddy found him at the corner, saw him offer what he had
