Story Behind The Song
This song was written in the first year of university when I had a job at a pub kitchen that was just awful. I'm not sure where the rest of the song came from, it just kind of flowed.

Lyrics
Little Susie, she worked in a kitchen all day
Crappy pay, minimum wage
She thought that one day she could slip off into the space
Between the parsley and the pink champagne
Would anyone turn their heads when they saw that she wasn?t
When she wasn?t, well you know, just there
Would they say ?huh, where has little Susie gone??
Or in their minds would they be, like ?so long??
Jody liked to go sometimes down to the lake and sit and cry
To relieve some of the tension from her mind
Did she think that she could suffer less should she find
A little something that we call peace of mind
So if she looked around would she realise something suddenly
Would she find the person that she truly wanted to be?
Or would the reflection she saw be the anti-reality
And would she say to herself - ?well, that just isn?t me?
Isn?t it funny how sometimes we sit alone and wonder why -
Why we?re the only one upon whom we can rely
It?s not too late to seal your fate
Get off your ass, get up and do something, do something great
You?re just a little lost inside but soon you?ll find
A way to not be blind ? open your eyes
Beth would sit and wait so patiently beside the door ?til he -
?Til he showed up to sweep her off her feet
Every day, the shame, the same technique he?d use and then he?d speak
?Your hair, your eyes and the way you brush your teeth means so much to me?
Isn?t it funny how sometimes we sit alone and wonder why -
We?re all going slowly out of our minds
It?s not too late to seal your fate
Get off your ass, get up and do something, do something great
You?re just a little lost inside but soon you?ll find
A way to not be blind ? open your eyes
Little Susie she worked in a kitchen all day
Crappy pay, minimum wage
She thought that one day she could slip off into the space
Between the parsley and the pink champagne
