Lyrics

The Heart of Man

I saw you on TV
I could not believe the things you said
Such anger in your eyes
And all the ways you lied in word and deed

Oh, the heart of man
The heart of man
Is desperately wicked

She took it all away
And promised that he'd pay for everything
She couldn't get enough
And sold her soul for lust and worldly gain

Oh, the heart of man
The heart of man
Is desperately wicked

I feel the thoughts ignite
And try to step aside before I'm burned
But the embers burn beneath
And I've thrown gasoline onto this fire

Oh, the heart of man
The heart of man
Is desperately wicked

Take this heart of stone
Scrub me clean and make me whole
Be what I always wanted
And what you always wanted, too
Make me new

'Cause oh, the heart of man
The heart of man
The heart of man is desperate
Desperate
Desperately wicked
