It's Time to Drink More Beer

Story Behind The Song

In June of 2005, while walking our dog Rojo prior to a gig at Tulune's Southside Saloon and Import Emporium in Johnstown, the melody popped into my head. Much like "The Biscuit Stomp", the lyrics flowed freely like manna from above. The lyrics here are

Lyrics

If you've had your fill of whiskey from the still, it's time to drink more beer
If you've had your fill of wine and it's half past nine, it's time to drink more beer
If you gal is a slut or your husband is a butt, you shouldn't have no fear fear fear
Just head to the saloon you'll be feeling better soon, it's time to drink more beer

If it's a sunny day or it's cloudy and gray, it's time to drink more beer
If you're in love or as lonesome as a dove, it's time to drink more beer
If you're alive and it's half past five, it's time to get full of cheer cheer cheer
Nuzzle up to a keg and do like Greg, it's time to drink more beer

So raise a toast to the one you love the most, it's time to drink more beer
If you're mother is a goner raise a toast in her honor, it's time to drink more beer
You may be a lager head or an ale guy instead, but one thing that is clear clear clear
If you're hanging with your chums and flapping your gums, it's time to drink more beer
It's time to drink more beer
It's time to drink more beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer
