A Daughters Gift

Story Behind The Song

This song I wrote after we lost our dear dog of 12 years. He was my dear companion, always by my side. The loss was great, the pain deep. Then our beautiful daughter got us a puppy for our anniversary. It helped us in a time of great need. What a gift!

Lyrics

Weeks of tears mourning our loved one who had been with us so many years. A dear companion, a cherished friend, I am so glad I was able to hold him in the end.
A big hole just couldn't be filled. Gizzie's empty bowl and collar laying near. Everywhere I looked my heart broke. I longed for him to appear.
Feeling lost and all alone when I got a call on the telephone. Our daughter said she would be right over with an anniversary gift.
She came up the stairs with a precious bundle in her arms. A big blue bow wrapped around a pup, lifting my spirits up.
How thoughtful she was in our time of need. Not staying in her pain, but helping us with ours. Each night I look up in the sky and thank my lucky stars.
