when evening lays a blanket on the water
and shadows ease the colors from the land
sometimes i stand uncertain and in wonder
thinking you'll be
coming home again
though the aching of
your loss is in me
and the mystery of it
echoes on
somewhere beyond
the ragged edge of sorrow
there's a vision of your face lit by the dawn

and when i listen
i still hear you
and in my heart i see
how good it was
just to be near you
how much you will remain
a part of me

i wish I'd had more time
to be beside you
and I'm thankful
for the moments that we had
cause life the way we live it it's a tumbling dance
and you were such
a treasured part of that
so now I find you
in the places i love
and the memories people share who love you still
like a stone splash
in the water
you ripple on
and deep within my days
you always will

and when i listen
i still hear you...
