Story Behind The Song
The drummer in my band walked into band practice and started telling us about the sky he saw on the ride home.
I started thinking about that and I had noticed the flags on the overpasses and it all came together from there.
Song Description
It's the small things that keep you happy. From girls in Summer dresses or sitting on your front porch. It's easy to forget and little things like American Flags on the overpass or a great sunset just need to be appreciated.

Lyrics
Can't say I never left the screen door open.
I never seen an August go by so fast.
Just can't rely on Indian Summer.
The days are long but they just don't last.
The days are long but they just don't last.
CHORUS
There's a Red Sky out on 85
American Flag on the overpass
Red Skies out on 85
American Flag on the overpass
Cubicle hidin' is anybody comin'?
Breakin' all the rules with a girl at work.
Think I'm gonna miss that summer dress, darlin'.
The city is pretty but the winters are cold.
The city is pretty but the winters are cold.
CHORUS
There's a Red Sky out on 85
American Flag on the overpass
Red Skies out on 85
American Flag on the overpass
Harmonica
Gotta lottery ticket that's paying out in sunshine.
I'm standin' here waitin' for my number to get called.
It's you and me and the front porch, darlin'.
If we don't use it. It's our own damn fault.
If we don't use it. It's our own damn fault.
CHORUS
There's a Red Sky out on 85
American Flag on the overpass
Red Skies out on 85
American Flag on the overpass (2X)
