Music or anything else you have a gift granted to you by birth becomes a responsibility to ignore or to pursue regardless of how difficult it maybe. After a live [one to one] performance in the home of the former Ex. Dir. of the Academy of Country music Nikki was told she had better record this song. Nikki decided then from that support she would right then record "Music is the only thing I've had" in her next session which for many years she had performed live after it was written.
Story Behind the Song
Nikki Hornsby like many other professional artist who make little money as a club performer was told always to get a day job since she had a university education which would pay more than the arts. She knew she had inherited the gift of her music and it's responsibility that may be profitable in other ways as this song explains.
