What Are Friends For ©

I'm not here to sing you excuses
Or here to explain all my life
There's been good days and bad, And we all wish we'll have
A tomorrow as bright as today

I've learned more from you than I'll ever return
And I've been kind of guilty from start
But what are friends for, if you leave them before
You've told them what's deep in your heart

---Chorus---
And I've been on the dark side of nowhere
I Can't say I won't go again
But no one can tell me I'm lonely
If I can still call you my friend
And I've been on the bright side of heaven
You told me just what to do
I wish I could show it all over
But damn it you know I love you
--------------------
I've done nothing more than you've done here before
And the picture's quit easy to view
If you look in my eyes you will soon realize
The reflection you're seeing is you

It's hard to admit when the shoe really fits
And your nightmares are all coming true
So cast the first stone, if you think you're alone
I'm sure it will come back to you

--Repeat Chorus--

Enjoyed the vibe and lyrics

Nice song, nice voice, nice story and presentation

Nice male and female vocal. Great instrumentation, I enjoy the violin parts. Cool guitar solo, nice tone.

Really sweet Irish folk song...straight ahead with few curves, but perfect for the sentiment. Vocal is real and sincere..."damn it" was nice at the end.

Vocal is very pleasing to the ear...background vocals adds a nice touch to the song...I like your story line...

Here's a folk/love/friendship song that is sure to strike a chord with nearly every listener. It explores the bright side and the dark side of life, something everyone experiences. The message here is that friendship is valuable and helpful, and a spiritual element seems to be in there as well. The performance is honest and good, with a nice fiddle solo as well as guitar lead. Nice intro, bass and tambourine.

I like the lead vocals, very unique - I also like the sound of the drums and how the rhythm guitar sounds in the mix.

as soon as it started i liked the deep nice sound of the track. its rich and warm sounding, the deep voice suits it well.
a nice country folk track with some nice subtle backing music and vocals , good mix. nice song

The musical hook that kicks off the song and returns throughout is compelling to the ear. The 6/8 shuffle is a nice pocket. The lead vocal is has a nice gravelly weathered texture that suits the ballad well. Nice tune!

I like that the intro was brief ...that you got right into the song. Definitely country. I like the line "I've been on the dark side of nowhere...can't say I won't go there again." The lyrical style reminds me of John Prine, which is a good thing :-). I liked your voice as well.

A very catchy tune with strong lyrics and a memorable hook. Nice fiddle playing finishes the musical backing nicely with some good guitar (Dobro?) as well. Strong deep vocal.

Great feel to this song great vocals and lyrics really nice

liked fiddle / guitar break, nice feel to the song
