Female ballad with modern vocals, yet a retro feel, about how much to reveal in a new relationship. Should I tell him how I really feel or will that scare him away; we are both afraid to say. Song mentions walking down Commonwealth Ave in Boston. Mix of Carole King and Norah Jones.

Lyrics

COMMONWEALTH

Verse
Was it all in my head
Reality I can't stand
No heart on my sleeve
You'd see the power over me

What if I let you see
The vulnerable side of me
Would you have let me in
Or ran off with the wind

Pre-Chorus
I wish I had the courage
To say exactly how I feel
I wish I had the strength
To say I want something real
If you want something real

Chorus
Take me on a walk down Commonwealth
Where the lights are wrapped around the trees
Give me your coat when I get cold
And treat me like your favorite thing

Verse
Are we both playing hard to get
Pretending we're not interested
Pulled ourselves away
Like the stars are in retrograde

Pre-Chorus
I wish I had the courage
To say exactly how I feel
I wish I had the strength
To say I want something real
If you want something real

Chorus
Take me on a walk down Commonwealth
Where the lights are wrapped around the tree
Give me your coat when I get cold
And treat me like your favorite thing

Bridge
Maybe if we weren't afraid
We would stop playing the guessing game
Thinking why would they want me?
But we're just blind to what the other sees
If you want this to be more than a dream
Then tell me

And

Chorus
Take me on a walk down Commonwealth
Where the lights are wrapped around the trees
Give me your coat when I get cold
And treat me like your favorite thing

Take me on a walk down Commonwealth
Where the lights are wrapped around the trees
Give me your coat when I get cold
And treat me like your favorite thing

Wow, just wow! What a voice! What a heartfelt plea: Let's be real! This song would be perfect for a movie. It asks the questions many ask at the beginning of a relationship, and asks them in such a poignant, winsome and creative way. I absolutely LOVE the chorus. Take me on a walk down Commonwealth (real street name, common enough to be recognizable by anyone); give me your coat when I get cold...treat me like your favorite thing. Every girl can relate to that...the need to be special in the eyes of her man, treated with love and respect. This song flows beautifully. The voice is young and believable, sounds vulnerable and sweet...a bit raw, but actually quite perfect. Instrumentation suits song beautifully. Production excellent.

Like the intonation in the lead vocal. Well constructed and rounded generally. Nice musicianship/programming (who knows these days!).
