Story Behind The Song
I saw this man walking and thought he was going to the bus station. He came in to the shelter where I volunteered and I realized he was homeless. He showed me the photos of his young daughter and wife. He lost his family, then his house, then his car. All he has left are the things in the two suitcases.

Lyrics
TWO SUITCASES
He walks down the road alone
A heavy suitcase in each hand
Not a dime to his name, and nowhere to go
He wonders if he'll ever understand
CHORUS
Two suitcases hold what's left of his life
How did it all turn out so wrong?
Two suitcases carry everything he needs
But everything he wants is gone
He comes to the center for lunch
He can't pay so we let it slide
He hates a handout that's how he's made
Today his hunger comes before his pride
CHORUS
He shows me a photograph taken on their wedding day
And a little girl blowing out candles on a birthday cake
Aren't they beautiful, his eyes seem to say
I tell him so, he smiles and slowly tucks them both away
CHORUS
Everything he wants is gone
