for today's standard this song is missing a lot lyrics and melody are to old sounding i would also use a demo singer a clever hook and a good opening line is esssential. now if this song were pitched for a movie or TV show it called for a classic country it might have a chance there. learn your craft listen to today's country read books go to workshops etc... but keep learning and by all means keep writing.
