Story Behind The Song
I wrote this after a long week of overthinking. Occasionally, mindlessly driving (with the right weather) at night is a cathartic experience. The lyrics were the first ones that came to mind and this song was almost written too quickly.
Song Description
This is about temporarily accessing a mental space without worry. It's a beautiful place, and it was brought on by the windows being down and the right songs coming on in the car. The beauty of this plane of thought is how fleeting it is.

Lyrics
Let me tell you a story about where I've been
I don't need no friend tonight
Just to lift my spirits, I'll take that moonlight
And shine it in my eyes
Yes, I'm alone tonight, but I'm not lonely
No, this feeling is rarely here
Don't go red on me now
Because I'm only learning how
I let my old thoughts think for themselves
'Cause I wanna know
What if it's not all bad?
And I don't have any thoughts past that
And what if I'm wrong?
To think I always have to fight it out
And what if I don't let my hopes become my fears
Let me roll my windows down
Feel the wind silence my anxious heart
And I might be more enlightened or frightened coming back
But I don't wanna go there yet
Singing let's get lost again
Still, I let my old thoughts think for themselves
'Cause I wanna know
What if it's not all bad?
And I don't have any thoughts past that
And what if I'm wrong?
To think I always have to fight it out
What if I don't have to know it all?
And that's alright
And what if I don't let my hopes become my fears
What if it's not all bad?
And I don't have any thoughts past that
