Thank A Vet

Story Behind The Song

This is a song I wrote for all combat veterans, but especially for my dad who fought in Korea and lost several good friends and also carried the guilt of fighting back and killing the enemy - he suffered from PTSD and died on September 1, 2012. If you only heard some of his stories you would realize the tragedy of war and the sacrifice of those who came back and those who did not, God bless our Veterans.

Lyrics

Waking up in the morning in your pup tent
The rain is coming down like it won't quit
Sergeant Carl says boys we got to pack it in
Cause the fighting ain't over ain't over yet

Have you ever heard bullets fly by your head
Have you prayed for the living among the dead
Have you ever woke up with blood stained hands?
If you love your freedom Thank A Vet

even though I walk through the valley of death
I will fear no evil, Lord let me rest

Doctor please take from my mind
All of these memories I'm trying to hide
I just wanna be a regular guy
But there ain't no forgetting those who died
No I won't forget my friends who died

Have you ever heard bullets fly by your head
Have you prayed for the living among the dead
Have you ever woke up with blood stained hands?
If you love your freedom Thank A Vet

Thank A Vet, Thank A Vet, Thank A Vet, Thank A Vet

The song has a good potential, but I would work on it to make it more interesting in the development.

The intro was very fast and had a great groove. The melody was good and I loved the production of it.It has a good message, we should all thank a vet.

For me personally this song is all about the voice. The singer has a certain delivery
style that can be convincing. And the microphone or the effect that was used to get the almost hollow like effect adds to the charm of the singers delivery. Keep it up & Pump up the jams!!

I like the sound of the electric guitar and the vocal. Together combines a little magic of the environment for the songs.

You had me at the first beat. I loved everything about this song....You made the hair on my arms stand straight up...all your words were very clear no guessing and your voice gave me chills...Do we give enough thanks to our men...Does everyone have a green light on their porch o in theirr window to thank a vet?...Mine has been in my window for 3 years and I live with a Vet. Thank you for doing this song....

Good vocals interesting effect.

Wow, this is great. The energy is terrific. Very atmospheric. Powerful lyrics. There is real menace and insistency in the song. The instrumentation is excellent. The lead guitar referencing the bullets and ricochets is a masterstroke, and displays an instinctive intuition for arrangement and production.

Reminds me a Creedance Clearwater Revival song . Has the feel of a Vietnam era song , classic rock . A great reminder that there are still so many out there fighting for our country .I love the lyric that asks "have you ever heard the sound of bullets flying over your head" It takes the listener right there . Nice job , keep up the great work

The groove from the get go grabbed me and started me banging on the keys while typing in tempo - The driving tone gets hot when the tasty gritty lead guitar jumps in. This is a sinister and somber journey of sound and mood and mind. Back to the beginning to listen again. This is a high speed steamroller of a tune! The vocal delivery commands your full immersion in this tale.

I think the idea has potential and the guitar has a driving force. The lyrics have a strong message which are definitely relevant in todays world.

ok theme, pretty good mix, voice good

Sounds a little like Neil Young & Crazy Horse...GREAT WAR SONG, sounds like the singer really has gone thru the trauma of battle, extremely powerful song!! Great lyrics and super vocal performance....I feel like I'm in the trenches of this tune, huge WOW!!! Every one should have this song on their daily play list, so no one ever forgets the horrors of War!! Thank you for writing this song...........

I really like the topic of this song...it's all about appreciating what our veterans have done to fight for our freedom. The writer gets right down into the bloody trenches with vivid word pictures that really work for this song. Nice rock instrumentation.
