OWDU were hangin' out, drinkin' - as per usual - and lamenting how rotten it was that we had to go to work rather than just drink all day long. (Or at least whenever we wanted to.) Furthermore, we lamented the fact that we had to work in order to get money to buy booze, rather than just having booze given to us for free. "Well," Rust Belt Jessie said, "to quote Oscar Wilde: 'Work is the curse of the drinking class.'" The next line of the chorus flowed from that: "Quit your job, and raise your glass!" And the song was born.
