LAST CALL

Story Behind The Song

Most people go through a period during teir comeuppance when they check out the single's bar scene. Some stay longer than others. The story fo this song is a simple one. Enjoy your time in the scene, but know the real score and knolw when to leave it alone. Because when it's all said and done, you won't find love in a Single's bar. What you will find is a lot of people laughing, dancing and drinking that want to get laid. The song is just a tongue in cheek look at the waste of time that is the Singles Bar Scene.

Song Description

The singer is a veteran of the Singles Bar scene and is pointing out that there're only two reasoon to stop in at at your local Honky-Tonk: To get drunk, get laid, or both. The metaphor occurs in the OUTRO. It refers to management's false camraderie with their patrons. THe couple is told "We'll see you next week, that's for sure"/ What they actually mean is that they'll see SOMEBODY next week, that the faces may change over the years, but the warm bodies and, most importantly, their cash wil keep on comin'. THe final thought: "and Never forget what you came here for, LAST CALL." is an admonishment not to have any illusion as to what brought you here.

Lyrics

LAST CALL by Jamie Parsons (BMI) & Donald Muse (BMI)
1st verse:
Everybody's drinkin' and havin' a ball,
The bartender's grinnin' cause it's almost LAST CALL,
It really doesn't matter what you, say or do,
The lights are up, and the drinkin' is through,
And if you hurry, you can have another round,
Well it's, LAST CALL, better drink 'em down.

Chorus:
LAST CALL, Well the drinkin's through,
LAST CALL, You know what to do,
There's a lady at the bar lookin' hard at you,
You might get lucky 'fore the night is through,
LAST CALL.

2nd verse:
Every guy is thinkin' it's a Booty Call,
The girls are sayin', 'Boy you're gonna take a fall'
It's the same old dance , it ain't changed yet,
The guys make their move, and the girls play hard to get,
And if you hurry, you can have another round,
Well its, LAST CALL better drink'em down

Chorus:
LAST CALL, Well the drinkin's through,
LAST CALL, You know what to do,
There's a lady at the bar lookin' hard at you,
You might get lucky 'fore the night is through,
LAST CALL better drink 'em down.

Chorus:
LAST CALL, Well the drinkin's through,
LAST CALL, You know what to do,
There's a lady at the bar lookin' hard at you,
You might get lucky 'fore the night is through,
LAST CALL

INSTRUMENTAL

3rd verse:
Well It all comes down, to who will be the one,
That leaves on your arm, to continue the fun, you don't
Have to go home but you can't stay here,
So close the deal, or cry in your beer,
'cause if you hurry you can have another round,
Well it's, LAST CALL, drink 'em all down.

OUTRO: Tip your bartender, on your way ot the door,
We'll see ya next week, that's for sure,
And never forget, what you ca-me here for, LAST CALL!
