INDIE VISION 10/3/12
"At the Wayside play a classic form of Pop-Punk yet maintaining that "fresh" sound so many bands yearn for yet fail to execute. If you dug that familiar sound of the Drive Thru Records bands of years past, you'll instantly fall in love with At the Wayside. This is a quick pace, energetic and passionate debut release by At the Wayside. Although a bit short (only 10 songs), the band makes up for that shortfall with plenty of talent and hook heavy antics. If you couldn't tell already, I am a big pop-punk fan and this album serves its purpose at getting me interested in them and their music. If you're big on supporting bands like Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Set Your Goals, and even Relient K, you'll certainly find something to appreciate about this debut album. There really aren't too many "Christian" bands playing this style of music that have record deals. I would highly recommend this release to fans of the genre and even non-punk fans. I think ever

ATW Bio

Rooted in pop punk, At The Wayside take their major influence from bands like blink-182, Four Year Strong, Switchfoot, Hit The Lights & A Day To Remember. Combining catchy vocal melodies with guitar hooks driven to satisfy even the most metal of fans, while catering to the ears of pop & rock listeners alike. Though a form of the band had existed for a number of years, their lineup of guitarists/vocalists Phil Carper & Matt Berg, bassist/vocalist Brett O'Hern and drummer Jadie Rutledge was solidified in July of 2012. Two months later, their debut Self-Titled album was released on Red Cord Records. Accepted with positive reviews all around, the 10-song record is filled with energetic and ambitious guitars, heavy hitting drums, passionate lyrics focused on improvement of self and spiritual surrender, and melodies that won't leave your head for days. The band set out on tour in January of 2013, went back into the studio, releasing their single "Thanks To You" online and on analog radio across the country, and has since taken the stage at Lifelight Festival, Hills Alive Festival, along with crowd packing shows in cities all over the US. At The Wayside is set to record their next full-length record at the start of 2014, and with nothing but their drive, ambition and unwillingness to waver, their sophomore effort promises to impact their fans and new listeners on an even larger scale.
